Hey Scaredy-Cat
Being a specialist in anxiety, I find myself listening to others talk about their fears. Fear of failure, fear of poverty, fear of being alone, fear of what others may say or do. Honestly, everyone has fears. Fear was initially ingrained into our genetic makeup as an instinctual safety trigger to increase our chance of survival. So, if you are going on hike through the woods and you see a puma with huge snarling fangs and gruesome claws fear is what makes you think "oh no, run!” versus “look at this cute giant fur ball”. It helped us to avoid the harmful and dangerous things in the wilderness.
As we have increased our quality of life and moved
away from a wilderness setting the basic threats for safety has drastically decreased. However, instead of decreasing our fears we have misplaced them to things that really do not pose a threat or harm. With the rise of comfort, we have placed undue status to superficial things which in the end creates fear and anxieties. Now, instead of worrying if you will find food or get attacked by a predator you worry about having money or followers on social media. Is money important? Certainly, but it is NOT of life or death importance.
The problem is that an instinct that was designed to sustain our survival is now crippling our growth and limiting our ability to reach our full potential. We respond to a business risk or a social situation with the same fear as a grizzly bear towering over you. Not only does this harm your physical health but it stunts your mental growth as well. It isolates you from your hopes while applying pressure to your self-esteem from the disdain towards your current situation. So, what can you do? Pushback, face your fears and address the irrational thoughts/ beliefs that are holding you captive. You can do, be and see so much more from the other side of your fears by moving beyond them to fulfill your potential. Take a long hard honest look at your fear and be rational! What if no one likes your post, what does that mean? What if you do not get this next deal, then what? If you go back to school, what will happen? None of these lead to “the end of life”. The even bigger question is, what if you don’t? If this seems too good to be true or just too much to ask, Premier Transformation can help.
